Principles of Advanced Practice (30 credits) (Mandatory)

The module explores the four pillars of advanced practice—clinical practice, leadership and  management, education, and research—as defined by national frameworks and professional  bodies. It encourages students to critically examine how these pillars interact to support safe, effective, and person-centered care.

Integrated Assessment and Reasoning for Advanced Practice (30 credits) (Mandatory)

This module is designed to equip advanced practitioners with the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking required to perform comprehensive, person-centred assessments and make informed clinical decisions in complex healthcare environments. Holistic assessment is a cornerstone of advanced practice, enabling practitioners to 
consider the full spectrum of physical, psychological, social, and spiritual factors that influence health and wellbeing.

Non-Medical Independent and/or Supplementary Prescribing (V300) (30 credits, Optional)

NMP training can support role and career development by enabling practitioners to take on greater responsibilities for managing patient care. NMP enhances patient care by supporting patients’ timely access to treatment with medicines, enabling choice whilst helping to reduce waiting times, reduce hospital admissions, and maximize the wider skills of the healthcare team.

Leading Change and Innovation in Advanced Practice (30 credits, Mandatory)

This module focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to effect meaningful change in healthcare services, focusing on the underpinning theory of change approaches, the global and national policy landscape that informs strategy driving change and the practical techniques needed to advance innovation through change and service improvement. 

NB: For students that have already completed the prescribing qualification at Level 6 or for whom prescribing is not available to their registered profession, optional modules will be available for study. Academic advice and guidance will be offered to these students to facilitate the choice of relevant and appropriate modules from the options listed below

• Improving Practice through Application of Learning (30 credits, Optional)
• Professional Advocate (30 credits, Optional)
